Dappa Powa

Let's talk about one of the first song I was obsessed with in my early Kolly discovery days. This song is so catchy, once you've heard it you can never forget the chorus and you'll end up (kinda) liking the horse neighing background (though, to be honest, I still can't understand the purpose/meaning of this noise)

Don't you love how they tried to set a "fancy" background to the song by adding fire in the mountains, black smoke, black veil floating in the wind like crazy. And the outfits (do I see pleather on Dhanush?), dear Lord, this video has everything.

And yet, it's still on my Ipod, on my work out playlist, on my happy playlist, in brief, everywhere, and I love that

Do you know what I love the most in this world? Yep, you got it, a good kuthu. And I'm totally excited when there's one in a Hindi movie.
Ranbir Kapoor made an item number in the forthcoming movie Chillar Party and it's a freakin' dappa! Nothing's missing, the jeans, the moves, the shirt, and the whistles.
The only question remaining is when Ranbir is going South? I want him in a good ol'masala.

Parmi les 1001 trésors du Sud, il y a notamment cette forme de musique que je chéris particulièrement et qui m'a permis depuis quelques années d'aborder avec le sourire certains matins bien gris, et m'a fait remuer les épaules plus d'une fois sur ligne 2 ou dans le bus 76.

Je me dois donc de commencer cette série par LE premier dappankuthu que j'ai écouté (et regardé) en boucle, Manmadha rasa, avec l'infatiguable et pourtant si frêle Dhanush. Je reste fascinée par les capacités en danse de cet acteur:
